Anna's First Hunt

Last week Friday, Joel, Anna and I went turkey hunting in the early evening.  We told Anna the day before she had to be really quiet while hunting.  She was so excited to go.  Before leaving, Anna prepared by getting her backpack and loading it with snacks...all by herself.  Once we got to the field, we walked to the area we thought would be a good spot and sure enough, the turkeys were just around a little bend on the edge of the woods.  We scared them off, but decided to still set up the blind, set some decoys out and see if we could get them to answer our calls.  Every time Joel would use the box call, Anna would right away say "Daddy, be quiet, we're turkey hunting!"  Anna absolutely loved hunting.  She loved finding all kinds of bugs and "digging" in the dirt.  She thought it was great to be able to eat her supper and snacks in the blind.  She opened her backpack and much to my surprise, she had packed the whole box of fruit snacks :)  It was cute how thoughtful she was.  She first gave a package to Daddy, then one to me and then gave herself 2!  Even though Anna didn't see any turkeys, she still loved it and can't wait to do it again.  On the way home, she asked if she could hunt deer.  I don't think she'll be ready for that for awhile :)
